Kathryn Hopkins Bixler, 92, of Westminster entered eternal life Saturday, November 7 at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. A lifelong resident of Carroll County, she was born Sept. 19, 1917. She resided at the family home on Westminster Pike, Westminster Ridge, and Carroll Lutheran Health Care Center. She was the widow of Harold B. Bixler, who died Jan. 18, 1995.

She was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of l9l7, Kathryn was employed by the A & P Store, Carroll County Bank and Trust, and B B & T Bank. She was a member of the Westminster Church of the Brethren and a former member of Meadow Branch Brethren Church and Jerusalem Lutheran Church. A talented quilter, she also enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelbia Markley, and her husband, Rev. William Markley. Her granddaughter, Marlinda Kay Smith and her husband,
Steven Smith, reside at Indiana, PA. Midshipman William R. Smith, United States Naval Academy, Cadet Michael S. Smith, West Point Military Academy,
and Allison Kay Smith are her great grandchildren. The daughter of Fannie Babylon and George Hopkins, she had three brothers, William Hopkins, Paul
Hopkins, and George Hopkins, and a sister, Naomi Long, all deceased.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at Carroll Lutheran Village (Krug Chapel) at 11 A.M. The viewing will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the service from 10 until ll. Interment will be at the Meadow Branch Cemetery.
The Rev. Jimmie Schwartz, Chaplain of Carroll Lutheran Village, will conduct the service.
