Betty Jean Carpenter Barrett, formerly of Westminster died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Easton Memorial Hospital. Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Nettie Mae Palmer and Robert Carpenter. She was married to the late George Edward Barrett who died Feb. 5, 2000. Before retiring she worked for Carroll Hospital Center in Medical Records. She also co-owned B & D Fashions in Westminster. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, performing, writing and composing music. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survived by daughters and son-in-law Joy Gramling of Scottsville, Ky., Jill and Rick Place of Vineland, NJ, son and daughter-in-law George Linwood "Woody" and Colleen Barrett of Shaftsbury, Vt., sisters Geraldine Plaugher of New Freedom, Pa. and Elaine Replogle-Napp of Eldersburg. Also survived by 12 grandchildren. She was predeceased by grandson Ryan Allen Place. The family will receive friends at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 P.M. Interment in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
