Kathryne Belva Crouse Corbin, age 97, of Uniontown, formerly of Westminster, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Shepherds Glen Assisted Living in Taneytown. Born February 17, 1913, in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late Martha R. Crouse. She was the wife of the late William Francis Corbin, Jr. who died in 1988.
Before retiring, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Church of God in Westminster. She was the president of the Needlework Guild of Carroll County crocheting many things for nursing home residents and locals, president of the Auxiliary of Springfield Hospital Center where she accepted the Floyd B. Warriner Cup Award, and enjoyed helping the elderly by shoveling snow, providing transportation, gardening, cooking and giving them rides. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making lap blankets to give patients at Springfield.
She is survived by sister- in- laws Mabel Corbin of Fern Park, Florida, Sue Corbin of Mount Airy, and Elizabeth Corbin of Camp Springs. Also surviving are 13 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brother-in-laws Herbert L., Raymond M., Woodrow W., Richard A., and Samuel E. Corbin, sisters-in-law Pearl C. Helwig and Ruth Corbin Grill. A funeral service will be held at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ray Duvall officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at 1. Interment in Westminster Cemetery.
