Dorothy Strawsburg McKinney, 69, of Manchester, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Transitions Healthcare in Sykesville. Born June 7, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Arnold Strawsburg and Madeline Green Strawsburg. Survived by her husband of 46 years Raymond E. McKinney.
She graduated from Westminster High School in 1958 and Frostburg State in 1962 where she was on the Deans List and was an honor student. She was a teacher for several years in the Westminster area. She was a member of Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren and also taught Sunday school. She helped her husband on the farm and enjoyed her family.
Besides her husband she is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Raymond B. and Denise McKinney of Berea, Kentucky and Mark E.A. and Amanda McKinney of Manchester, sisters and brother-in-law Betty Reed of Fl., Ann and Marshall Ecker of Va., 5 grandchildren Raymond D., Forrest, and Hunter McKinney of Berea, Ky., Levi and Justine McKinney of Manchester. Also survived by 2 nephews and 1 niece.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until services at 11.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, 818 Old Taneytown Rd., Westminster with her pastor Rev. James E. Lucas officiating. Interment in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
