Sarah Elizabeth "Baby Doll", "Nana" McGrew, 63, of Westminster, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at her residence. Born March 26, 1946 in Laurel, MS she was the daughter of Joyce Graham Smith of East Point, MI. and the late Oscar McGrew.

Before retiring she worked as a marketing manager for Michigan Bell. She sang in church choir, enjoyed bowling, poetry, and crossword puzzles. She had many clichés, two that read: "She had an uncanny wit with a saying for everything. I'd rather sleep in a hallow log and bark at the moon before I put up with that" and "You'd rather sandpaper a lion's behind in a telephone booth than mess with me."

In addition to her mother, she is survived by special friend Alfred Howard of Westminster, son William McGrew of Harvey, Ill., daughters and son-in-law Kenyatta and Joseph Brooks of Westminster, Ebony McGrew of Union Bridge, brothers Herschell Smith of Detroit, MI, Orvin Smith of Detroit, MI, Derek Smith of Colombia, SC, Oscar McGrew of Erie, PA, sisters Celesta Pennington of East Point, MI., Saundra DeVeaux of East Point, MI., Robin House of Coral Springs, Fl., Donna Meredith of Detroit, MI., Roselyn Smith of Norfolk, VA, grandchildren Heaven McGrew, Brandi Walker, Joseph Brooks II, and Jordan Brooks, and aunt Savanah Wallace of Temecula, CA.

She was predeceased by brothers Joe Smith and Kenneth Smith.

The family will receive friends on Sunday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster from 2 to 8 p.m. where words of encouragement with the family will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.

Friends may also visit from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 on Monday at Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E. Main St., Westminster with Rev. Daryl Foster officiating. Interment in Mt. Joy Cemetery in Union Bridge.

Following the interment friends and family are invited to a repast at Union Bridge Fire Hall, 8 West Locust St., Union Bridge, MD 21791.
